The Northern Territory graduate program set me up for my career. It allowed me to explore my passion for working in the regions and developed my skill set in areas that I was comfortable, such as writing, but also pushed me to explore things outside of my comfort zone such as finance work. It set me up with a lot of networks both within and outside my agency. It helped me build connections and link with a lot of people that I otherwise wouldn't have been able to if I just had gone straight into the department, not through the graduate program.
I'd highly recommend the graduate program as a way to explore different options, build your networks, push yourself out of your comfort zone and try new things."

The work we do at the Northern Territory Government impacts the lives of everyday Territorians. We get the chance to work on projects that help shape policy and on the budget as well.
The people make this graduate program so good, everyone, especially your team, is willing to lend a hand and help you succeed as a grad. During your rotations, you get the chance to network and connect with grads across other departments, so you make friends.
The vibe and atmosphere here is great overall."

One of the reasons I chose the NT government grad program is the location. I grew up in New South Wales and studied in Brisbane, and when I graduated I knew it was time for me to start a new adventure in a whole different part of the world, which is here in Darwin. So far I'm loving the Darwin lifestyle, with a beautiful 10-minute cycle to work every day. Just the perfect way to start the day.
One great thing about the program is it brings together people from across Australia and the world, which means you're bound to find people with similar hobbies and interests to you. For me, I've been able to find a great group of friends and we go exploring the local markets and many national parks on weekends. "

The graduate program is truly exceptional and I'm grateful for the opportunity to work closely with the executive directors who provide support and direct mentorship. I have opportunities to receive personalised guidance tailored to my interests, strengths and career aspirations.
The graduate program also offers numerous networking opportunities through conferences, seminars and collaboration with various agencies. It helps me develop my soft skills such as communication, negotiation and collaboration. Essentially, for me the graduate program is a stepping stone, propelling my career opportunities and my personal growth.”

My time in the Northern Territory graduate program was truly enjoyable. I loved the dry season in Darwin, which provided the perfect setting for both work and relaxation. The program gave me valuable insights into economic and financial governance at a regional level, while the work itself was engaging and fulfilling."

The graduate program has provided me with many opportunities to grow as a professional. Every work unit uniquely contributes to the Territory, and I feel as a graduate, the work I experienced and contributed to was much more varied and meaningful compared with other graduate programs."

For me, the graduate program has been an opportunity to gain experience, to explore and to grow as a person. I have been provided with great mentoring opportunities, and my role has allowed me to learn and explore lots of different areas of government. I have attended workshops, training, networking events and leadership seminars through the program.
"My favourite part of the graduate program is that I get to do lots of different things and meet lots of new people. Each day is different and the work is really engaging and interesting. I’ve also met lots of new people, such as other grads, mentors and leaders, and I have made connections that will be with me for life!"

The NTG graduate program is an incredible first step to a career in the public service where learning and service are celebrated.
"You have the opportunity to work alongside experts in their field willing to impart knowledge. You are also paired with senior mentors from across the department, which has been a privilege and has made the transition from university into working in the NTG less daunting."
